The Arts District Alliance, a project of Arts District Community Council LA (ADCCLA), is based in the heart of the Downtown Los Angeles Arts District. The focus of the exchange is to offer an opportunity to create dialogue, collaboration and discovery between artists and community members as well as create exposure for their artwork.
Launch
For January 2015, we will be launching the first exchange with China; specifically with artists from 798 in Beijing and the Downtown Los Angeles Arts District from Tuesday January 20th – Sunday, January 25th.
The Process
“Selection of the Artists”
Through the curator of the LA Art Show four prolific world-class photographers from China who will be exhibiting their artwork during the LA Art Show from January 15th – January 18th were selected to participate in the Arts District Alliance exchange.
“What the Artists are Provided”
The four Chinese artists are provided a week-long artist in residence stay located within the arts district, an exhibition of their work, workshops, seminars, and meet and greets with LA artists.
We will be hosting a panel discussion to discuss their art, a ceremony in their honor, and a documentary on the development of 798 in Beijing. The four artists will show their works along side 4 artists working in the Arts District.
There will be cultural activities for the artists including visiting local museums, art galleries, a walking tour of the Arts District, collaboration with local artists, tasting local foods, and language exchange.
